Although New Millennium Concepts, Ltd. has not conducted specific testing for hydrogen peroxide, we expect that hydrogen peroxide will not have any adverse effects on Black Berkey ® purification elements for the following reasons:
Hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) is composed of hydrogen and oxygen.
Hydrogen peroxide can easily break down into water and oxygen.
When hydrogen peroxide is present in water, contaminants such as pollutants accelerate the breakdown of hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen.
In the water treatment industry, carbon is the most commonly used filter media to break down hydrogen peroxide and residual peroxide.
Black Berkey ® purification elements use activated carbon in our proprietary formulation.
Black Berkey ® purification elements are composed of activated carbon, and carbon is the most commonly used carrier for the breakdown of hydrogen peroxide into oxygen and water. Therefore, we expect that hydrogen peroxide will not have any adverse effects on the Black Berkey ® purification elements.
New Millennium Concepts, Ltd. always recommends using the cleanest water source available, whenever possible.
