Internal controls carried out between April and the end of November 2025 on the Vergèze production site (Gard) led to the isolation of 9534 pallets of Perrier bottles due to bacteriological abnormalities detected during self-monitoring.
After additional checks, 7085 pallets were released, 34 were destroyed, and 2415 pallets still remain in re-check — approximately 4 million bottles.
Two drillings used for production also had to be temporarily stopped:
- one following an electrical failure,
- the other after detection of the bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Production then resumed under health supervision after analyzes deemed compliant.
These difficulties arise in an already delicate context for the brand, which recently had to review its filtration processes after abandoning unauthorized treatments. The successive implementation of microfiltration at 0.2 µm then at 0.45 µm now requires obtaining a new prefectural authorization to continue using the name “natural mineral water”.
The authorities' decision is expected by early 2026, and at the latest before the legal deadline of March 25.
